Helping Other People Emerge

Who We Are:
Voices of Virtue serves at-risk individuals and families who are at risk of homelessness and being underserved. Even though our company is currently in the process of obtaining 501C3 status, we have been providing social service assistance, hosting fundraising events, and making a meaningful impact on the Baton Rouge community since 2018. In the past we have hosted a number of events that have focused on addressing the needs of the community and providing resources and referrals to our community partners.

What We Need:
As part of our growth strategy, we intend to secure a space that can serve as our
headquarters, resource center and transitional housing facility. By having a building, we
can convene, service more individuals, and reduce the stress on shelters by providing
temporary shelter. Many of those we serve have often been forgotten and shut out,
seen as undeserving of opportunities to build or restructure their lives. Our clients have
lived on the streets on in shelters; have mental health and substance abuse issues, recovering from trauma, discrimination and isolation. Voices of Virtue would like to fill this need by having a building for our organization.
Our building would enable us to provide services such as:
Housing
Temporary housing for individuals and families that would lessen the impact on city shelters and resources.
Job Training
Job training that would assist clients in becoming gainfully employed so that they
can transition to their own home. And an educational program for homebuyers
aimed at encouraging the purchase of a home.
Resources and Referrals
A resource center that would allow clients to utilize computers, fax machines and
phones to aid in their job and housing search. Adding to these resources, they would also have access to a case manager who would introduce them to community partners.
Health and Wellness
A variety of classes will be offered, including meditation, exercise, healthy eating,
art, and medication management.
Advocacy
As part of training and empowerment, clients will get involved in activities that are geared toward shaping policies and preventing homelessness.
